Use of The Moss by Turton Football Club

In late October 2009, Turton Football Club approached the Parish Council, as Custodial Trustees, to enquire about the possible use of The Moss by the Club, as the current site in Edgworth is unsuitable.

On 4th December, several Parish Councillors met the Chairman of the Club to ascertain their plans, and were provided with an interim plan, showing pitches, a clubhouse and car parking.

The Parish Council, at its meeting on 7th December, gave broad support to the plan, but asked the Club to provide a written five-year development plan with funding details, together with clear evidence of public support, bearing in mind the there is a covenant on the land to the effect that the land shall only be used as a public park or recreation ground for the inhabitants of, and visitors to, Belmont.

To date, no further contact has been received from the Club, although it is understood that the plan was presented to a meeting of the Belmont Village Residents Association on 14th December.
